Dairy-Free Dining in Boise
Where to eat well when dairy is off the table
Whether you're dairy-free for health reasons, because of mold illness (dairy sensitivity is common in the CIRS community), or simply by choice, Boise has a solid and growing number of options. Here are the most reliably recommended spots.
High Note Cafe (225 N 5th St, Boise)
A fully vegan kitchen — no freezers, no microwaves, everything made from scratch with locally sourced organic ingredients. Since the entire kitchen is plant-based, dairy-free guests can order with confidence. One of the safest options in Boise for multiple dietary restrictions simultaneously.
Boise Juice Co.
According to the company, all of their juices, smoothies, and bowls are dairy-free — they do not blend with dairy, ice, or added sugars. Acai bowls with toppings like pomegranate, honey, and dark chocolate make for a nourishing, easy meal on a low-energy day.
Boise Fry Company
Their fries are cooked in sunflower seed oil and left unseasoned so customers can choose their own toppings. Pretty much anything on the menu can be made dairy-free, and they have an allergen chart that includes all sauces and seasonings to make ordering easy. They also offer vegan cheese.
The Funky Taco
Their menu is labeled for dairy-free and vegan guests, with several Asian-inspired dairy-free taco options clearly identified. A fun, casual option when you want something flavorful and quick.
Lemon Tree Co. (224 N 10th St)
A fully customizable menu where every item can be adapted — dairy-free requests are handled easily and staff are knowledgeable about allergens. The vegan banh mi is a guest favorite.
For dairy-free ice cream:
Stella's Ice Cream in Boise offers around 16 dairy-free and vegan flavors made from coconut, oat, and almond milk. A genuine treat worth seeking out.
Grocery options:Both the Boise Co-op and Natural Grocers carry excellent dairy-free sections including milks, cheeses, yogurts, and specialty items. If you're cooking at home during your stay — which The Eagle Greenhouse's full kitchen makes easy — stocking up here is your best bet.
⚠️ Always inform your server of your dietary needs and ask specifically about shared equipment and cooking surfaces — especially if you have a severe dairy intolerance or allergy.
